Lahore, March 24: Former captain Younis Khan, who was banned by the PCB for an indefinite period, received a presidential performance award for leading Pakistan to victory at the Twenty20 World Cup in England last year.
Younis was banned from all forms of the game following Pakistan’s tour Down Under.
The 32-year-old right-handed batsman was banned by the PCB after a committee ruled that infighting between him and another former captain, Mohammad Yousuf, contributed to a series of embarrassing defeats in Australia.
”I feel proud about this award and thank Pakistan’s government for bestowing this award on me. I have always felt proud of being a Pakistani and will do my utmost to serve my country,” Younis said yesterday.
However, Younis further added that infuture he will lodge an appeal against the ban imposed on him by the PCB.
”At this point I don’t want to speak about the penalties but I am in consultation and will lodge an appeal,” he added.
Younis also rejected reports that his serious differences with Mohammad Yousuf led to the indefinite ban on both the players.
”I have no knowledge about such problems (differences with Yousuf). There is no truth in all these reports,” he added.
