Johannesburg: Veteran batsman Younis Khan, who is set to become the highest Test scorer for Pakistan by surpassing Javed Miandad , admitted that he was nowhere near the level of the cricket legend.
Younis has scored 8,814 Test runs in 101 matches and is just 19 runs short from eclipsing Miandad’s record of 8,832 runs.
The 37-year-old said that although it would be great to achieve the record, but he would never be able to achieve the heights which Miandad had got, Sport24 reported.
The middle order batsman, however, said that his first priority is to be recognized as a Pakistani batsman rather than a record holder.
Younis, who insisted that he would try his best to accomplish the score in the first innings of the opening Test against England, admitted that playing well for his nation was more important.
Pakistan will play three Tests, four ODIs and three T20 internationals against England from October 13 in United Arab Emirates. (ANI)
