Youngster suicide attempt for ‘T’

Hyderabad, September 22: A youngster has climbed a hoarding tower at the Women’s college in Kothi and threatened to jump down unless the Telangana public representatives resigned forth with.

The incident created sensation and the youth did not heed the requests of the Chief Minister Mr. N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, balladeer Mr. Gaddar, TRS MP Ms. Vijaya Santi, MLA Dr. Nagam Janardana Reddy, BJP senior leader Mr. Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana JAC Convener Prof. Kodandaram, Telangana Jagruti President Ms,. Kavita, TRS MLA Mr. T Harish Rao and several others.

The youth was identified as Srinivas of Vempalli in Adilabad district. He has not come down when this report was being filed at 1700 hrs on Thursday. Eye witnesses said that he got up on the tower at around 1000 hrs carrying a bag containing a bottle of water and another of petrol.

A large posse of police was posted there. Police have brought nets with them to save the boy, in case he jumped down. An ambulance and a team of doctors were kept at the spot, to attend to him, in case of emergency.

Leaders have repeatedly requested him not to take the extreme step of jumping down to his death. They said it was essential for every one committed to the Telangana cause to remain alive and fight. Ms. Vijaya Santi said the boy should join the Telangana movement and valiantly fight for the state. She said if any one committed suicide for Telangana, it would only add to the schemes of those who were opposed to state bifurcation. “They (Samaikya Andhra protagonists) will laugh if we die. Let’s not give them that chance. Let us live, so that we can fight,” she has said through TV channels.

Police were seen talking to the boy with a battery-operated public address system. They were also seen urging the boy to come down.

Srinivas said he wanted all the Telangana public representatives to resign immediately. Assuring that he would not jump down, he said he would come down as soon as they resign. The boy has also said over phone that the AICC official spokesperson Ms. Renuka Choudary was talking in a senseless manner. He said the life of the TRS chief Mr. K. Chandrasekhara Rao was important to him and informed those who talked to him over telephone that he had climbed the hoarding only to avert the fast of KCR.
