Jerusalem: Janna Jihad Ayyad, the youngest journalist of the world told the story of her cousin and friend Palestinian teen Ahed Tamimi, who has been detained by the Israeli military for hitting an Israeli officer.
The vocal child journalist, Janna sending the message from Palestine to the world appeal the children around the globe to put hand in hand to free Palestine and make this ‘world a world of peace, a world of equality’.
The start of a military trial for a Palestinian teenager charged after a viral video showed her hitting two Israeli soldiers has been delayed until February 6, her lawyer said.
Ahed, 16 has been hailed as a hero for Palestinian resistance after a bravely video showing her striking an Israel Defense Forces soldier outside her family’s home in Nabi Saleh went viral in December.
Ahed’s family says the December 15 incident occurred in the yard of their home in Nabi Saleh, near Ramallah involved in legitimate resistance.
A video shows the cousins approaching two Israeli soldiers and telling them to leave before shoving, kicking and slapping the soldiers, who fended off the blows without retaliating.
The heavily armed soldiers do not respond in the face of what appears to be an attempt to provoke rather than seriously harm them.
They then move backwards after Ahed’s mother Nariman becomes involved.
Ahed, arrested in the early hours of December 19, has been involved in a series of previous confrontations, with older pictures of her confronting soldiers widely published.
She has been charged with 12 counts including assault and could face up to 10 years jail term if convicted. However, the maximum sentence appears unlikely.
