New Delhi: A 21-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances outside her parent’s residence in west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area today.
The deceased, identified as Jyoti, lived with her foster parents in Nangloi area. She had come to Uttam Nagar today morning to meet her biological parents, a police official said.
She was found dead at around 2 PM, lying in a pool of blood outside the five-storey building in which her biological parents live, after which she was taken for cremation without the police being informed about the matter, the official said.
The matter is being probed from all possible angles including murder, said a senior police official, who did not rule out possibilities of this being a case of honour killing.
The matter was reported to the police by the crematorium in-charge in the evening after he suspected foul play, police said.
While initially it appeared that the girl might have fell down or could have jumped from the terrace, as she was reported to have gone to bring back washed clothes, hung to dry, later her foster parents alleged her biological parent may have killed her, police said.
The body was found by a neighbour, who raised an alarm. The body was later sent for postmortem, police said, adding, they are questioning all her relatives and investigation is underway.
