Hyderabad: A 22-year-old newly married woman committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan allegedly because of harassment by her husband and his relatives in Konda Reddy Guda, Kishanbagh, police said.
Amreen Begum took the extreme step on Sunday evening after her husband Rafi Uddin accused her of having an affair with another man, Charminar Division, Police Official said.
The police registered a case of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of IPC against Rafi Uddin who is absconding.
Amreen Begum got married to Rafi Uddin in March. Her husband accused her of having ‘objectionable’ relations with other people over social media. But her parents said that their daughter was never involved in any misconduct.
Father of the deceased Mohammad Ghouse alleged that she was tortured to death by her husband and in-laws. “We want the police to investigate the matter seriously and arrest the suspects,” he said.
