Meerath: A Muslim youth transformed the body of a Maruti 800 car into a 2-seater luxury car. He also made a 4-seater jeep. Bodies of both the cars have been made with wood. Lakhs of rupees have been offered for the car. The vehicles have been made by Rehan (22) son of a timber merchant who left the studies and started working with his father. Out of a passion for making cars, Rehan dismantled the body of a Maruti 800 and made a 2-seat luxury car out of it. The car can travel 18 kms with one litre of petrol. It took him 6 months to make the car. He incurred an expenditure of 1.5 lakh. The vehicle has been rated Rs. 3 lakh on OLX.
Rehan told that he has also made a 7 ft. long and 3 ft. wide jeep. The whole body has been made of wood. 4 batteries of 18 volts have been put to run the jeep. Once completely charged the jeep can travel up to 150 kms with speed of 30 to 40 kms. Rehan has incurred an expenditure of 60000 for making jeep and it took him 6 months to complete the project. Now Rehan is working on another project to prepare solar panel to be kept atop the jeep to charge the batteries.
