Young cancer survivors enthral audience

Hyderabad, February 28: They not only battled against something lethal but also proved that they could set an example for others. Participating in the ‘Dance like a child’ programme, a cancer awareness concert, few children, who are cancer survivors, exhibited courage and desire to lead a happy life.

Four children, including Aleem, Madhukar, Priya and Partho left the audience spellbound at a private hotel on Saturday, when they danced on stage along with Neeraj Shridhar of ‘Bombay Vikings’. The programme was organised by Cure Foundation.

The objective was to create awareness on cancer prevention, early detection, cure and rehabilitation. Irrespective of urban and rural geography, instances of children being diagnosed with cancer were on the rise in the State, said Dr. P. Vijay Anand Reddy, founder of Cure Foundation.

Across the country, there are about 10 lakh cancer patients of which six per cent happen to be children.

There can be many reasons, including genetic history for children getting affected with cancer and this programme was dedicated to the courage of these young cancer survivors, he informed.
