Jamshedpur, June 13: Two promising teen aged badminton players of Jharkhand were crushed to death under the wheels of truck on Tata-Hata Road, about 25 km from here. Atul Gupta (18) and Vishal Raj (19) were on their way to Jamshedpur on a motorcycle from their native Chaibasa, West Singhbhum district, when a speeding truck rammed into their vehicle on Sunday.
Both the badminton players died on the spot, the truck driver managed to flee the scene alongwith the vehicle, sources said. While Atul was a state sub-junior champion for two consecutive year 2008 and 2009, Vishal was seeded third in the under-19 category.
The Secretary of Jharkhand Badminton Association, Prabhakar Rao today said the association has convened a meeting in the evening to condole the deaths.
