Yoga guru’s campaign is to gain fame: Rajendra Singh on saving rivers by missed calls

Rajendra Singh, who is known for rejuvenating rivers and has saved nine rivers so far has said that a ‘baba is baba’, how can a river be saved by giving missed calls.

“I have rejuvenated nine rivers in my lifetime,” said Singh, who is called the “Waterman of India”. “I haven’t seen any of them rejuvenate with a missed call.”

Singh’s the statement is an outcome of a campaign, “Rally for Rivers”, led by a yoga guru Jaggi Vasudev, who runs Isha foundation.

Vasudev’s campaign Rally for Rivers had sought the support of people by receiving missed calls to show that they wanted to rejuvenate the rivers.

According to a report by The News Minute, Isha foundation’s campaign is to gain fame, power and money – and not the revival of Indian rivers, said the water activist Rajendra Singh on Monday.

Assam became the sixth state to sign a memorandum of understanding with Isha Foundation to be part of the missed calls drive.

“Nothing will happen with missed calls and slogans to revive rivers,” Singh said.

Singh had also met Vasudev and expressed his scepticism about his drive of retrieving the rivers. He had also told the Yoga guru that a “godman like him should hold a moral compass for the government and citizens when they start exploiting and destroying rivers.”

“I told him strictly. But Baba is Baba. Baba will revive rivers with a missed call.”
