Strongly condemning the outburst of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh against BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, BJP senior leader and Rajya Sabha member M Venkaiah Naidu today said Narendra Modi becoming Prime Minister will be disastrous to the Congress party”.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Venkaiah said the people of the country have decided to retire the Congress party and their mood was evident from the popularity rating of the UPA after its defeat in the recent Assembly elections. “Manmohan Singh seems to have not understood the message of the people, who rejected the Congress in the recent Assembly elections in four States”, he said and alleged that the Prime Minister’s outburst on Narendra Modi was a great insult to Indian democracy because Modi was elected as Chief Minister thrice with a handsome majority and the Prime Minister’s comments show that Dr Singh stooped down to a mean level to make cheap criticism of Modi.
Referring to comment of the Prime Minister about Rahul Gandhi, he said Singh spoke of great ideals of Rahul Gandhi, but did not reveal what those great credentials are. He should have explained about them, he added.
Criticising the Congress-led UPA government’s performance, the BJP leader said 10 years of Manmohan Singh government was a saga of betrayals, broken promises and galore of massive scams and scandals. It brought down the country’s image internationally, ruined the economy, devalued the rupee and also lost the respect of the neighboring countries, he alleged. He said the achievements of the UPA government are: highest inflation, lowest growth rate, monumental corruption, price hike and massive unemployment. He said Dr Singh had committed more sins of omissions than commissions. Alleging that Dr Manmohan Singh was the weakest-ever Prime Minister, Naidu said Singh would be judged in the history as the most ineffective PM and who pushed India into dark in every sense.
Indirectly referring to Aam Admi Party (AAP), Venkaiah said new parties may come and new players may enter the field, but the man of the match will be Narendra Modi because the country wants a decisive, dynamic and development-oriented leader. There was a massive wave building up in favour of BJP under the leadership of Narendera Modi, he said.
State BJP leaders N Indrasen Reddy, BJP Yuva Morcha president Vishnuvardhan Reddy and others were present. (NSS)
