Hyderabad, January 29: The Telugu Desam party senior leader and former Union minister, Mr K. Yerrannaidu, has asked the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, to immediately fill the posts of Information Commissioners which were lying vacant. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, Mr Naidu pointed out that though under the Right to Information Act, a maximum number 10 Information Commissioners could be appointed, not a single post was filled by him as the chairman. He said that because the posts were left vacant, complaints were becoming stale as there was no one to look into them and the very purpose of the Act was getting defeated.
He also reminded the Chief Minister that as soon as he took over he had assured the people that his administration would be transparent and responsive. But these could not be achieved as the Information Commission was not functioning properly due to non-filling of the vacant posts. He has urged the Chief Minister to immediately appoint the Information Commissioners.
