Srikakulam, October 18: Senior leader of Telugu Desam party K Yerran Naidu on Monday demanded that the United Progressive Alliance government clarify its stand on the issue of Telangana statehood and stop being a mute spectator.
Speaking to reporters, Yerran Naidu said that people in favour of Samaikyaandhra have not launched any agitation as they had full faith in the Centre’s fair play following its December 23, 2009, statement. However, he warned that the people of Seemandhra region would not keep quiet if the Centre did anything to damage the integrity of the state.
“We will show our mettle if the Centre fails to come out openly with a clear statement on the issue by November 1,” he added.
