Yemeni soldiers arrive in Delhi for medical treatment

New Delhi: Soldiers and pro-government militia fighters from Yemen have arrived in Delhi for the medical treatment. There are 63 injured persons. They are financed by UAE and Red Crescent.

Mouthanna, a 19-year-old youth is one among them. He is here for a prosthetic limb.

It may be mentioned that Mouthanna is one of the thousands of persons who are the victim of the brutal civil war taking place in Yemen between the government and Houthi rebels.

According to the report published in The Hindu, talking about his experience, Mouthanna said that he was 12-year-old when Houthis reached Aden. He had joined the army as a volunteer.

On 14th February 2017, his left leg got seriously injured when a bomb exploded.

Giving the details of his treatment, he said that doctors have asked him to be active. Mouthanna hopes that he will get proper prosthetics so that he can walk again.

It may be mentioned that these patients are admitted to VPS Rockland Hospitals in Delhi and Gurugram. Patients are provided with a facility of the prayer room. The age of the youngest patient is 9 years. Patients also include women.

Giving the details of the war, the injured soldier said that since 2015, around 9245 persons lost their lives in the war.
It may be noted that Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Middle East.

Ammer Abdellah who lost his left arm said that he is willing to go back and fight again by joining the military.

More such injured persons are expected to visit India for treatment.
