Sanaa, October 12: Yemen’s army says it has killed 60 Huthi Shia fighters in various operations in the country’s northern areas.
The Yemeni defense ministry’s website has reported that 37 fighters have been killed in an operation in the city of Anad, AFP reported on Monday.
Another five fighters were killed in clashes with the army, while seven others died when attempting an attack on the army in Jebel Samaa, near Saada, a military spokesman said.
According to the statement, the army also attacked a vehicle carrying fighters in Harf Sufyan in the Amran province, killing 10 of them.
Fighting has been raging since the government launched its ‘Operation Scorched Earth’ against Houthi fighters in August 11.
Thousands of civilians have so far been displaced from their homes, as growing numbers of people in the Saada province are fleeing into neighboring provinces.
