Yechury holds seat sharing discussions with Vaiko

Chennai: CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury today held discussions with MDMK leader Vaiko on sharing of the 110 seats allocated to the People’s Welfare Front, which comprises the two parties.

Yechury and Vaiko had a brief interaction at the party office here, an MDMK press release said.

“Members of People Welfare Front discussed distribution of 110 seats alloted to the front. Without any differences among us, we will arrive at an amicable conclusion on the number of seats to be shared. Then the places we need to contest will be decided by PWF representatives and DMDK together,” Vaiko told reporters later.

People’s Welfare Front comprises Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) led by Thol Thirumvalavan and Left Parties – CPI and CPI(M).

Actor-turned politician Vijayakant-led DMDK joined hands with PWF on March 23. While DMDK has been alloted 124 seats, PWF would contest in 110 seats.
