In a blistering attack on the ruling Congress and the YSR Congress party on Wednesday, TDP politburo member Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the leaders of both the parties, who indulged in scams and encouraged mafia forces, have no moral right to criticize the Telugu Desam party or its supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
In a statement here, Ramakrishnudu said the leaders of both the parties are notorious for stupidity, selfishness, corruption, irregularities and incorrigible. Barring relentless trips to Delhi and prostrating before the High Command for favours, the Congress leaders have no interest in visiting their constituencies to elicit their problems, he said, adding that was the reason why they always witch hunt the TDP chief.
The former Speaker said that the masses have lost confidence in the Congress party and its governments in the State and at the Centre indulged in corrupt practices to the tune of several lakhs of crores of rupees resulting in the ministers and high-placed officials cooling their heels in the jails. He said that the party supremo has taken up the “Vastunna Meekosam” padayatra to boost the morale of the people in the State.
Stating that courts as well as social activists like Anna Hazare were faulting the political leaders for the ills plaguing the nation, Yanamala said that Chandrababu Naidu has taken up the padayatra to refurbish the image of the political leaders and to re-establish corruption-free government in the State. He also alleged that late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had taken up padayatra with intentions to emerge as an unquestioned leader in the Congress, to mint money by illegal practices and to gain upper hand against his political rivals.
On seeing the ordeals of the people due to menacing power cuts, withering crops in lakhs of acres, closure of industries for want of electricity, Fee reimbursement arrears to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees, skyrocketing prices of essential commodities and punitive taxes, the heart-broken TDP president was constrained to take up the padayatra to wipe out the tears of the people, he added.
