New Delhi, September 12: The River Yamuna crossed the danger level today due to incessant rains and release of water into the river by Haryana, swamping low-lying areas of the national capital.
Bansh Raj, ADM (East) said the water level in Yamuna has touched 204.84 metre at 9 pm which is one centemetre above the danger level at 204.83 metre.
He said the water level is likely to touch 205 metres in the next 24 hours.
“But, there is no need to worry as all efforts have been taken to evacuate people from low-lying areas such as Chilla Khaddar and Khadarpur to relief camps set up for the affected people,” Raj said.
Water level rose in the river due to incessant rains and release of water into the river by Haryana.
The Flood and Control Department has set up a control room to coordinate relief and rescue operation among various agencies round-the-clock.
The official said Delhi Jal Board and Fire services have also been told to extend assistance in rescue operation.
