Lagos: Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. on Monday announced that CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria Ltd., a joint venture established by Yamaha Motor and CFAO S.A., has opened its motorcycle assembly plant and modern showroom located at the Amuwo Odofin Industrial Scheme in Lagos, Nigeria.
The opening of the plant is the result of a successful test and full activation of the Yamaha Motor’s assembly line.
The Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode, was invited to commission the assembly plant and showroom. He was accompanied by President, CEO and Representative Director of Yamaha Motor, Hiroyuki Yanagi, and the chairman of the management board, CFAO Group, Richard Bielle.
CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria’s Managing Director Olivier Levigne said the plant has the capacity for uninterrupted daily production with the target of 70,000 units by 2018, while the showroom exhibits other Yamaha Motor products such as outboard engines, personal watercraft, all-terrain vehicles, generators and Yamalube lubricants, all of which are distributed in Nigeria exclusively by CFAO Yamaha Motor Nigeria.
Fujii Hisashi, Deputy Managing Director and also Marketing Director of the company, said: “In addition to the plant and showroom, Yamaha Motor will launch two initiatives: the Yamaha Technical Academy, which will provide technical training and support services, and the Yamaha Riding Academy, which will contribute to safe motorcycle riding in the country.”
The joint venture was founded on the manufacturing and marketing expertise of Yamaha Motor and CFAO’s business experience and vast distribution network in Nigeria spanning over 113 years. (ANI)
