WWE superstar Shawn Michaels Retire

Newyork, April 03: Shawn Hickenbottom, who is best known as “Shawn Michaels,” or “The Heartbreak Kid” tearfully said goodbye to his 26 year wrestling career on Raw Monday night. In a very touching speech the 44 year old thanked his fans with the words, “For years, you guys were the only ones in the world that made me like me.” The Showstopper first began wrestling when he was just 19.

Michaels had made an agreement for his rival match with the Undertaker during Wrestlemania 26, that if the Undertaker won, Shawn would retire. Well, the Undertaker won, of course, which ended the career of Shawn Michaels. As Shawn started his farewell speech, which lasted 14 minutes and can be seen in part below, the Undertaker came out and tipped his hat the the retiring athlete.

Michaels thanked Triple H for being his friend when no one else was. He also thanked Vince McMahon for putting up with him, and Brett hart for forgiving him for the rival the two had during the 90’s. He added that everything Brett has ever said about Shawn, Brett had a right to say.

To those in hopes that he will return, Shawn said that he appreciates the sentiment and understands that they are skeptical of career ending matches, but that he is going to do everything that he can to stay retired. “I don’t want to break my word to you and I don’t want to break my word to The Undertaker,” he said. As he ended his speech, Michaels said, “This is how we started it, and this is how we are going to end it: The Heart Break Kid, Shawn Michaels has left the building!” After Triple H gave Shawn a farewell hug, he then placed two glow sticks to form an “X” in the center of the ring. Michaels walked towards the back, and with a wave of his hand, the legend was gone…
