New Delhi, Oct. 6 : The Supreme Court, which today heard a plea filed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and SEBI over the usage of Aadhaar, told the Centre it was ‘wrong to say that just because someone is poor, he should not have privacy’.
The apex court will be pronouncing its order tomorrow on the applications by the RBI, SEBI and others for the permission to use Aadhaar card for schemes other than PDS and LPG.
The RBI had earlier moved the apex court seeking clarification of its August 11 interim order that asked the government not to link Aadhaar, the unique identity number, to disbursal of subsidies and other sops under social welfare schemes. (ANI)
