Wrong to dub madarsa as terrorism hub: Arshad Aalam

New Delhi, August 13: Arshad Aalam the author of the book “Inside a Madarsa: Knowledge, Power and Islamic Identity in India” says that it is wrong to say that hatred for other religions is taught to the students in madarsas and they are terrorism centers.

Delivering a lecture in Delhi Mr. Arshad Aalam said the terrorist activities and data of terrorism do not testify that madarsas create terrorists. Mr. Aalam teaches at Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Milia Islamia. According to Mr. Alam there are various categories of madarsas. Sachar committee report states that only 4 percent Muslims study in madarsas but Mr. Aalm claims that Sachar committee’s data regarding madarsa students is not true as 12 to 13 percent Muslims study in Madarsa and the percentage is much higher in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
