Writer plays a key role in societal reform

Hyderabad, July 06: If a writer of today writes truth, the reader tries to adopt at in his thoughts and deeds and this action helps in carving the right path for the society. It was expressed by Prof. Shahid Mehdi, IAS former Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Milliah Islamiah, presently working as Vice Chairman of National Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi. He was addressing a large gathering in Urdu Hall, Himayathnagar after inaugurating Ms. Shabeena Farshorie’s book entitled “Shahar-e-Arzoo”. He congratulated her for her book which contains humorous essays and sketches.

The function was organized by Mehfil-e-Khawateen, Dabistan-e-Jaleel and Bazm-e-Ahbab-e-Jalees. Mr. Aslam Farshorie welcome the guests and conducted the meeting in his unique way.

Speaking on this occasions, Padmashree Dr. Jeelani Bano said that Women writers of Urdu have contributed immensely to Urdu literature. Literary activities gained momentum after the inception of Mehfil-e-Khawteen. Begum Maqbool Shahid Mehdi said that the topics on which Shabeena Farshori has written are in fact those which are dreams concurrent in our minds and hearts and also their interpretations. Prof. Aqeel Hashimi, former Head of the Dept., of Urdu. O.U. said that the prose writings on account of the Uniqueness and utility of their topics have a prominent place in literature. Writers who express their passions, feelings and observations form part of a healthy literature and Ms. Shabeena Farshori is one such writer. Prof S.A. Majeed Bedar, Head of the Dept., of Urdu, O.U. said that Shabeena Farshori is successful in awakening the feelings of her readers.

Noted writer Ms. Fareeda Raj recollected her long association with Ms. Shabeena. Tasneem Jowhar also spoke on this occasion. Ms. Shabeena Farshori thanked all those who encouraged her.
