Wretchedness of Urdu medium schools: a moment of thought

Hyderabad, December 10: A large number of Urdu schools lack furniture and students are forced to sit on the floor. Several schools do not have save drinking water; there is no toilet facility in a large number of schools; students and teachers face difficulty answering the call of nature. Lack of basic facilities in Urdu medium schools is forcing the Urdu medium students to drop education.

Most of the Urdu medium schools run under Rajiv Vidya mission SSA Hyderabad are run in rented buildings where students of many classes are hoarded in a single room. Since the school runs in a rented building usually it is shifted from one place to another forcing the students to drop education thus increasing the number of dropouts.

In the pretext of less number of students former collector of Hyderabad Naveen Mittal had closed down 282 schools in 2007. It has been told that the schools were closed down without informing director of education which is illegal. Of the 282 schools closed down during the periods of 4 years only 60 schools has been reopened.

Surprisingly the responsibility of searching a rented building to run the school is also given to the concerned teacher. Government should purchase the building to run and maintain school.
