Wozniacki surprised by ex-McIlroy’s comments, asks him to ‘move on’

Johannesburg [South Africa]: Surprised by Rory McIlroy’s comments about his current relationship with fiance Erica Stoll, current world number 19 tennis player Caroline Wozniacki, who was in a relationship with the former for three years, has asked the golfer to “move on” as he looks like in a “happy place”.

The two sport stars were engaged before McIlroy developed cold feet and called off his engagement to the tennis star at the 11th hour in 2014.

The world number two golfer, recently in an interview, let slip some details he did not enjoy about his relationship with Wozniacki.

“The thing I love about it, is that we were friends before anything romantic happened,” Sport24 quoted the North Irishman as saying.

“We met when she was working for the PGA of America, and renting a condo in Palm Beach, and I found it refreshing being with someone who was living a normal life rather than, ‘Oh! My jet is 30 minutes late!”

“I don’t feel Erica wants to change me in any way. I can be myself around her; there’s no bulls***, no acting, no show,” he added.

Wozniacki, who on Thursday entered the third round of the Australian Open, was asked about what she thought about the comments, to which she said, “I saw it alright, but I do not really have anything to say… was I surprised? Yes”

“It’s a little dead by now. It is three years ago, so I don’t understand why he keeps bringing it up. I don’t think there is any reason to.”

“He looks like he is a good place in his life, so he surely he must move on,” she added.

The world number 19 returns to action on Saturday when she meets British number one Jo Konta in the third round in Melbourne. (ANI)
