World Women Day on March 8: Tummala

Roads & Buildings and Women Development Minister Tummala Nageshwar Rao today said World Women Day will be celebrated across the State on March 8. 

He chaired a meeting of celebration committee on the women day celebrations at Secretariat here on Wednesday. Government Advisor KV Ramana Chary, Chief Minister’s OSD and poet Deshapathi Srinivas, MLA and Sanskrithika Samstha Chairman Rasamayi Balakishan, Culture Director M Harikrishna, Telugu University professors Suvarchala, Surabhi Vani, Revathi, Akhileshwari, Surya Dhanunjaya and others attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said noted women in various fields will be felicitated to mark the occasion. He entrusted the job of identifying popular women leaders and personalities in various fields for their unstinted services to Ramana Chary, Balakishan and Harikrishna. The committee will meet again on March 2 to review the arrangements. He also discussed on the conduct of the event in the State capital, district headquarters and Assembly segments on March 8. He directed the officials to release required funds for the World Women Day from 5 pm to 8 pm across the State and provide better facilities to the women attending the event.
The Minister also asked the officials to make a visit to Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam for the purpose as the last year celebrations were held there. The World Women’s Day should be conducted successfully by involving people at all levels, he added. (NSS)
