Jeddah, January 12: The president of the world-famous Pantheon-Sorbonne University said Tuesday that his school would work with King Abdulaziz University and focus on research into Islamic economics.
Jean-Claude Colliard said during a visit to the Scholarly Student Symposium at King Abdulaziz University that a partnership agreement signed with KAU earlier this week would help the French school draw on KAU’s research relating to Islamic economics and open a new window of knowledge at the school, which is located in Paris.
The field has helped find solutions to many economic and financial problems in a rapidly growing global economy, he said, emphasizing that his school and many others around the globe have benefited from existing knowledge about Islamic economics.
Many world universities have started to focus on the field of Islamic economics, which has become a magnet for research on economics and the global economy, he said.
During his visit to the Jeddah campus, Colliard said he was impressed with the educational leap KAU has taken. His visit consolidated the outcome of Saudi-French dialogue that was held last year in Paris and supports King Abdullah’s intercultural-dialogue initiative, officials said.
In the last three days of the Scholarly Student Symposium, KAU students have presented 46 research studies, which included topics of basic sciences, social sciences, medicine and engineering.
The Symposium is scheduled to conclude Wednesday and winning studies will be announced Thursday during a KAU function.
