World: No 1 in hunt: immediate focus on 3 major tourneys: Saina

Hyderabad, June 30: Indian Badminton hat-trick queen ”Saina Nehwal” was confident of the world number one spot but for the Hyderabadi world number three for immediate focus was winning the three major tournies this year— World Championship, the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games.

Moved by the rousing welcome at the Rajive Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on arrival today after winning three International Championships in a row—- Indian Grand Prix, Singapore Open and Indonesian Super Series— the 20 year old Indian ace shuttler, Saina, told reporters here that would concentrate and work hard win the forthcoming tournaments rather than looking at the world ranking. She intends to play selective tournaments concentrating on keeping herself injury-free to give full hudred per cent to her game.

Though the tournaments were tiriing but they were amazing and had boosted her confidence as her stamina also imroved and she was lasting long rallies.

Acknowledging that China was the power house, Sain, however, sounded the war bugle that India too, could not be taken lightly anymore. India has arrive on the World Badminton theatre with number of Indian players along with her performing exceptionaly well as seen in the recent tournaments.

”I enjoyed the three tournaments, played extremely well. I enjoyed every match, and all of the three matches were amazing, a little bit tiring but I was confident that I can do it. And I think, finally, I am really happy that I got three titles in a row,” Nehwal said.

First of all, I want to win ”I want to work hard but I also want to win the tournament so I am not really going to push myself to be the number one so fast. I just want to work even more harder and win the major events. This year there are three big tournaments,” Nehwal said.

Enjoying her recently elevated status as world nuimber 3, Saina exhuded confidence that she could very well be the world no one, thogh not so fast—- indicating that she had lot of Badminton years in the future.

Nehwal defeated Japans Sayaki Sato 21-19, 13-21, 21-11 in the Indonesian Open final held at Jakarta on June 27.
