World Human Rights Day observed

The World Human Rights Day was observed here today by the Human Rights Observers Global Peace Promoters in collaboration with the College of Teachers’ Education of Andhra MahilaSabha at the auditorium of AMS Osmania University Hyderabad. The Day was observed with the topic ‘Human Rights Observers’ role in the regional human rights system: Achievements and outstanding commitments.

Amala Akkineni, Animal Rights Activist, speaking on the occasion said that the Human Rights begin with the self, if we recognized this fact then we would not only respect ourselves and our rights but also respect others and their human rights. She said that we all should come forward strive hard for a cause.

Justice A Laxamana Rao, retired Chief Justice, highlighted in detail the status of human rights and salient features of democracy and said that our democracy is 60 years old. We have been successful in promoting and maintaining the democracy intact but we failed to value and protect the Human Rights. He highlighted importance of civil and cultural aspects of rule of law.

Anjana Sinha, IGP (CID) spoke about women’s empowerment and said that her department deals with the violation and abuse of women’s and children rights. She advised the people particularly the women to approach the women’s police and the women organizations working for women’s rights.

Mohammed Tamim, Chairman Human Rights Observers and Director United Nations Global Impact in his presidential remarks he said that the UNO adopted Human Rights in 1948 and many treatises were adopted in this regard. He said we should fight for our human rights then only we could not only safeguard our rihts but also we can help the weak and helpless in need. He said that in India the justice system is very slow which led to loss of faith by common man injustice system. Nevertheless we should respect our legal system as it is very strong notwithstanding the drawbacks. He highlighted status of women’s rights and said that after Afghanistan and Congo India is the fourth dangerous country as far as the Women’s rights are concerned.

Marri Aditya Reddy, Secretary PCC, Ganesh Nallari, Col. Dr. Narendra Reddy Hon. Secretary CTE, SravanRao NSUI and RC Patel Gen. Secretary NCM also spoke. Onthis occasion prizes were distributed among the winners of poster designing competitions. (INN)
