Hyderabad, April 18: World-class memorials would come up in memory of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who died in a helicopter crash on September 2 last year.
The State Government has asked the departments concerned to prepare the best designs for the memorials.
They would come up at Pavuaralagutta at Velugodu reserve forest in Kurnool district where the crash took place, at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district and opposite I-Max theatre in the City.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah gave his nod for the projects and directed the officials concerned to expedite the works at a review meeting held here today.
He was informed that 1,412 hectares of land has been identified for the memorial at the crash site and the Culture Department has been preparing the bronze statues of Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Chief Minister said funds would be released and wanted the officials to complete the finalisation of designs by September 2 this year which happens to be the first death anniversary of the departed leader. The memorial at Kadapa would have landscaping, park, avenues and galleries and the proposal has been sent to the Chief Conservator of Forests for clearance.
It is proposed that the Lake View Park should be developed in Hyderabad by the HMDA in 20 acres of land. A museum would come up here and it will have pictures of the maha padayatra undertaken by Rajasekhara Reddy.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister A Ramanarayana Reddy said that statues would be put in the rotaries along the Outer Ring Road and PVNR Express Highway. Ministers Sabita Reddy, D Prasada Rao, P Ramachandra Reddy, D Nagendar, Mukhesh Goud and officials attended the review meeting.
