World Bank has Sanctioned Rs.1400 crores to the Cyclone affected areas In AP and Odisha to improve the infrastructure like roads cyclone shelters, etc. said V.K. Duggal, Member, National Disaster Management. Authority (NDMA).
Speaking to the media after a review meeting with the state government officials here today, he said that Rs.758 crores has been allotted to Andhra Pradesh to establish Early Warning Dissemination System, improvement of Coastal Infrastructure like roads, bridges, multi-purpose cyclone centres, technical assistance, knowledge awareness, project management and implementation support. He said that the project will be completed by 2015.
Twelve national disaster responsive teams will be set up in addition to the ten existing teams. At the same time, state governments will also set up state disaster responsive force during the year. Training will be given by the National Disaster Responsive Force. Approach roads will
be built to connect the multipurpose cyclone centers. In each of the seven metros one national disaster responsive force will be set up during this project. In the last 100 years AP has faced 103 cyclones, he said.
