The concerted efforts of Andhra Pradesh Government in implementing energy efficiency activities like DELP, Street Light & inefficient pump sets replacement schemes etc., have been greatly appreciated by the World Bank officials and have acclaimed that the DELP scheme being implemented in Andhra Pradesh state is the largest energy efficient programme not only in the country but in the entire world.
Disclosing these details over phone/e-mail, Ajay Jain, Secretary Energy, who is currently in Washington D.C, U.S.A, attending Energy Efficiency Global Forum and Workshop by World Bank said that energy experts across the world were very much impressed by the progress made in A.P. state in energy efficiency front. The World Bank is also proposing to take up energy efficient scorecard of each state in the country and assured AP Government for providing full support to energy efficient activities to achieve the desired goals.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, the State Government has been implementing various EE activities, keeping in view the huge potentiality of energy savings and to prevent wastage of precious energy for the betterment of society which will benefit the state as well as individual consumers. With integrated approach of all key depts. like Energy, MA&UD, Agrl., RWS etc., various energy efficient programs like DELP (DSM based Efficient Lighting Program), Retrofitting of ordinary street lights with highly energy efficient LED street lights, replacement of inefficient pump sets with energy efficient ‘five star’ rated pump-sets, implementation of Energy Conservation Building Code(ECBC) for all major buildings, Perform Achieve & Trade (PAT) scheme in industries etc., are being vigorously implemented.
The State of Andhra Pradesh has set an international record by distributing 45 lakh LED bulbs within a short period of 30 weeks in Guntur, Anathpur, Srikakulam and West Godavari Districts. In accordance with the directions of GoAP, works have been taken up to retrofit 5.5 lakh ordinary street lights with LEDs in all Municipalities and Municipal corporations. (INN)
