Workshop on juvenile justice for Godavari, Krishna districts

The AP Judicial academy and UNICEF would be jointly organizing a workshop on Juvenile justice for the judicial officers and other stakeholders of both the East and West Godavari districts and Krishna district at Rajahmundry On March 3. At a press conference at Rajahmundry today M Satyanarayana, Murty Principal District Judge said, the workshop was in tune with the policy of Justice B Lokur, the Chief Justice of AP High Court, to conduct workshops at cluster level combining three to four districts in to a cluster, for effective implementation of the juvenile justice (care and protection of children )act 2000. He said the workshop would lay major thrust on the role of police, judiciary, child welfare committees and the district legal services authorities in juvenile justice delivery system. Hitherto the judicial academy was conducting training and workshops to judicial authorities at state level but now the workshops are being held at cluster level for judicial officers and stakeholders with a view to sensitize them on child rights and welfare. The district Judges of East and West Godavari, and Krishna districts would chair the different sessions during the workshop. Resource persons such as P Francis Thambi of child right advisory foundation Vijayawada, Dr N Esther expert in child psychology. A L Kismat Kumar, Director Juvenile Welfare, S Govindarajulu Additional SP Rajahmundry, Ganesh, Social Worker and AV Pardhasaradhi senior faculty member AP Judicial academy also would participate in the workshop, he added.
