Working with Sonam Kapoor absolute delight: Prashantt

Mumbai :He will be soon seen with Sonam Kapoor in the upcoming film “Neerja” and actor Prashantt Guptha says it was a delightful experience to work with the actress.

The Ram Madhvani-directed biopic will have the “Khoobsurat” star play the role of flight attendant of Pan Am airlines, Neerja Bhanot, who lost her life trying to save the passengers from terrorists on board the hijacked flight on September 5, 1986. The “Issaq” actor says there was “no nervousness” working with the 30-year-old actress as she is very humble.

“Sonam was an absolute delight to work with, very humble… Her resemblance to Neerja Bhanot had to be seen to be believed. I was aware Sonam would be playing the title role of Neerja and I was simply excited to share screen space with her. I think she is gorgeous and I’m also a die-hard fan of her father (Anil Kapoor),” the actor told PTI.

Prashantt, who was an admirer of director Madhvani’s work ever since he saw a documentary made by him on megastar Amitabh Bachchan, jumped at the opportunity to star in the film.

“’Neerja’ happened after I came across an article about director Ram Madhvani, who had selected this story to make a film. It seemed fascinating to me because it had something to do with Pan Am Airlines, which was my chosen and favourite airline growing up in America in the 80s and 90s.

“I was fortunate that Ram sir was cordial of my interest in working with him and offered me the opportunity to audition for a pivotal role, which I eventually bagged.”

The actor, who was seen in “Identity Card” and horror “6-5=2”, hopes the Sonam Kapoor-starrer, scheduled to release next year, will open many doors for him.

“From ‘Neerja’, I expect and hope to progress a few notches upwards in the direction. As this would probably be my biggest release until now, I am hoping, more than anything, that it leads to credible recognition.” Prashantt will be next seen in “19th January” with Deepti Naval and “Irada” along with actor Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi.
