Workers of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant belonging to various unions organized ‘Chalo Assembly’ protest rally, demanding that iron ore mines be allotted to the plant.
CITU council member Rama Rao, AITUC Steel Plant employees’ union leader Adi Narayana, HMS leader Ramulu Naidu, TNTUC leader Paidi Raju, UFE leader Parandhamaiah, AITUC leader Sanyasi Rao and others participated in the rally.
The rally, which started from the Indira Park, was however stopped by the police before it reached the vicinity of the Assembly. Police have taken some of the leaders into custody. (NSS)
