Worker denies molesting two-year-old girl

Dubai, February 07: A worker denied in court on Sunday sexually molesting a two-year-old girl in a building while her parents were looking at a flat for rent.

Prosecutors accused the 21-year-old Indian worker of molesting the Jordanian child by removing her clothes and groping her on the sixth floor of the building on Oud Metha Road.

“I am not guilty… I did not do that,” 21-year-old N.P. said when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

He contended before Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout that he had obtained a written waiver from the girl’s father.

The girl cried, according to prosecution records, when she informed her father that the defendant had stripped her half-naked and touched her in “private places”.

Prosecutors say N.P. lured the child to the sixth floor while her mother and father were busy looking at the flat.

The Dubai Police forensic laboratory reported that traces of semen, which were lifted from the girl’s underwear, belonged to N.P.

The 40-year-old father testified that his daughter and the suspect — who was showing him the flats in the building — disappeared while they were checking the flats.

“She was very scared and cried when I found her… I comforted her and asked her where she had disappeared. Speaking to me innocently, she claimed ‘uncle [the suspect] beat me on my hand, then he took me upstairs and removed my dress, then touched me in a private place’. She pointed to her private parts,” he said.

“I calmed her down and made sure that nothing bad had happened to her. Police arrived 15 minutes after I called them. The suspect remained missing until police found him.

Inconsistent alibi

“A policeman asked him where he had disappeared to and he said he was on the tenth floor. The defendant told me he did not touch the girl when I asked him where he was,” the father told prosecutors.

A policeman who spoke to N.P. said: “When I questioned him, he alleged that his supervisor had asked him to go to the tenth floor. He claimed that the girl followed him up the stairs when he went up. The defendant gave an inconsistent alibi regarding his whereabouts in front of me and the father. The girl identified him immediately and pointed at her private parts, alleging that N.P. had groped her.”
