Islamabad: The work pertaining to Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (TAPI) gas pipeline will start in the first quarter of the next year. This was revealed in a meeting organized by Institute of Strategic Studies held at Islamabad on Friday.
Mr. Mohammed Murad Amanuf, Chief of Pipeline company told that Afghanistan and Pakistan have assured its security. It may be mentioned that a few years back, Taliban had also supported this plan.
According to the plan, 1814 km pipeline is being laid which will connect four countries. It is being termed as “Pipeline of Peace”. It will play a key role in the economic development of these countries.
It may be noted that in December 2010, Oil ministers of these four countries had entered into an agreement for this project.
Afghanistan will get a revenue of $40 crore for providing passage to this pipeline.
It is expected that by 2020, the supply of gas will start.
Turkmenistan is the country which has the fourth largest deposits of gas.
