NEW DELHI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as he told during the IIFA awards, did not waste time and got back to work for his next movie ‘Padmavati.’
A proof to that is, getting the first song of the film recorded by none other than Shreya Ghoshal.
The 32-year-old singer, who won all the major music awards for crooning ‘Deewani Mastani’ from ‘Bajirao Mastani’, took to Twitter to share the news of recording a “landmark song” of her career from one of the “outstanding” compositions by the 53-year-old filmmaker.
“Recorded a landmark song of my life today. Soul satisfying emotional joy ride. I live just to be able experience such moments! #powerofmusic,” she wrote some times back.
In another tweet yesterday, Shreya wrote, “Wondering which song! What outstanding compositions Sanjay Bhansali sir has made for #Padmavati.Sang with all heart!”
During the post show interaction with the media at IIFA 2016, Bhansali hinted about the next project saying, “No time to party; rather I would get back to the next one (project) and work hard.”
It was reported last week that music director Shreyas Puranik, who was supposed to work for the ‘Devdas’ helmer on ‘Padmavati,’ confirmed with a tweet that Deepika Padukone would star in the magnum opus.
However, on Sunday morning, Puranik’s account could not be found on Twitter and rumours were rife that he had deleted his account.
Twitterers also speculated that Bhansali had fired Puranik from his film, which is supposed to go on the floors in September.
It is also reported that after the success of ‘Ram Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani,’ the upcoming project, which is supposedly based on tyrant emperor Alauddin Khilji’s obsession for Padmavati, the queen of Chittor, will mark the third collaboration of Bhansali-Deepika and Ranveer Singh.
As per the rumour mills, ‘Masaan’ famed Vicky Kaushal has been finalised to play the leggy lass’ husband in this love story.
Bhansali had earlier directed an opera of the same name and theme, which was widely appreciated in Paris.
Prakash Kapadia, who scripted ‘Bajirao Mastani, has reportedly been roped in to write ‘Padmavati.’
