Hyderabad, February 18: The South Central Railway on Thursday announced that rail traffic would be affected due to doubling of railway lines on the Kayankulam-Mavelikara section from February 22.
In view of the construction work connected with the doubling of Kayankulam – Mavelikara section on Southern Railway, several train services have been reorganized from February 22 till March 11, 2011 to run on diverted routes, while some trains are partially cancelled and regulated.
The trains passing which would be affected are Train No 17229 Tiruvananthapuram – Hyderabad Sabari Express, Train No 12625 Tiruvananthapuram – New Delhi Kerala Express, Train No 16382 Kanniyakumari – Mumbai CST Express, Train No 12659 Nagarcoil – Shalimar Gurudev Express, Train No 12515 Tiruvananthapuram – Guwahati Express.
According these trains are provided stoppages at Ernakulam Junction, Chertala, Allappuzha, Amabalpuzha and Haripad.
Likewise, some trains will be diverted via Ernakulam Town– Kottayam – Kayankulam Section.
These trains are Train No 12787 Bilaspur – Tirunalveli Express and Train No 16331 Mumbai CST – Tiruvananthapuram Express.
These trains are provided stoppages at Kottayam, Changanasseri, Tiruvalla, and Chengannur.
Some trains which are partially cancelled are Train No 12511 Gorakhpur – Tiruvananthapuram Raptisagar Express, Train No 16324 Shalimar – Tiruvananthapuram Express, Train No 16325 Indore – Tiruvananthapuram Ahilyanagari Express, Train No 16327 Korba – Tiruvananthapuram Express, Train No 12644 Hazrat Nizamuddin – Tiruvananthapuram Express, Train No 12512 Tiruvananthapuram – Gorakhpur Raptisagar Express, Train No 12643 Tiruvananthapuram – Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, Train No 16326 Tiruvananthapuram – Indore Ahilyanagari Express and Train No 16328 Tiruvananthapuram – Korba Express.
To ensure the requirements of long distance passengers of trains terminated at Ernakulam, two special passenger trains will be Ernakulam Junction at 03.00 PM daily (one via Alappuzha and another via Kottayam) and will reach Tiruvananthapuram around 11.30 PM. Bonafide passengers of the partially cancelled trains can use their tickets to travel by these passenger special trains to their destinations.
Special Information Booths will be set up at Tiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam North and South and Trichur stations to help and guide the passengers.
Passengers are requested to bear with the inconvenience caused due to the work on the doubling of the Kayankulam – Mavalikera section which is a major project to better the train services in the region.
