New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that he won’t be surprised if his party wins the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections.
“Whatever surveys we (AAP) have conducted till now (in Punjab), we are winning with a huge margin. I won’t be surprised if Delhi results are repeated,” Kejriwal said while speaking at the 13th Hindustan Times Leadership Summit here today.
“If Navjot Sidhu joins our party, he will be welcomed, but we haven’t had talks yet,” he added.
Kejriwal had earlier categorically said that his party would not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections even as he indicated that the AAP could get a Delhi-like opportunity in Punjab.
“We are not here for power politics. People ask if AAP is in race for 2019. We are not in any race. Delhi’s win was miraculous. We just have to keep working hard and honestly. Don’t run after elections. All indications are that you are going to get the same opportunity in Punjab,” he said in his address at AAP’s National Council meeting last month.
AAP’s Lok Sabha MPs from Punjab include Bhagwant Mann, Dharamvira Gandhi, Harinder Singh Khalsa and Sadhu Singh. (ANI)
