New Delhi: Various women’s social organisations and clubs of the city on Monday burnt Chinese products as a mark of protest and took a pledge not to use them for its unstinted support to Pakistan.
“We believe that awareness should be created from home and hence we women collectively took to the streets today to oppose Chinese products. We have decided to boycott Chinese products,” Shalini Vaishkiyar, President of Lions Club of Patna Senorita, told reporters here.
“Country’s interest is first and foremost and that’s why we took a pledge not to use Chinese products from today onwards and also appeal people not to use Chinese products this Diwali, the time when the Communist country’s products witness a steep rise in sales every year,” Vaishkiyar said.
Instead, people should use Indian products to promote indigenous entrepreneurs and make the country a self-reliant so that country’s money should remain in the country, Anu Gandhi, another member of Lions Club of Patna, said.
Before burning the Chinese products at Mauryalok shopping complex in Patna, around 50 to 60 women belonging to various social organisations and Lions club took out a ‘pad-yatra’ from Mauryalok to Dakbungalow roundabout before culminating at the shopping complex.
They were carrying banners and placars reading ‘Boycott Made in China’ and ‘We will not use Chinese products’ among others.
Other organisations which participated in the event included- All Bihar Women Association, Inner Wheel Club, Women Council, Rotary Shakti, Punjabi Biradari and Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh.
