Women Want Governor To Get New Excise Police Annulled

Hyderabad, August 05: Leaders of various women’s organizations met the Governor, Mr E S L Narasimhan, on Wednesday and urged him to intervene and get the new excise policy to issue bar licenses on population basis withdrawn.

Ms Jyothi of the AIDWA and Ms Sandhya, president of the PoW, in a memorandum submitted to the Governor have stated that while there was no drinking water for the poor in the State, the government was opening taps to give them liquor beyond their consuming capacity. They urged the Governor to ensure that the GO No. 723, facilitating issuance of bar licences on population basis withdrawn.

Earlier in the day, the members of women’s organizations staged a dharna at the Excise office in Nampalli. Members of AIDWA, POW and other organizations participated in the agitation.
