Women police stations in state:CM

The Chief Minister also announced at the meeting that one All-women police station would be opened in every district and with 2 to 4 all women police stations in Hyderabad and one or two each in urban areas like Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Kurnool, Guntur, Waranagal, Tirupati etc.

The Chief Minister said that sensitisation programme would be launched in a big way throughout the State along with the SC-ST Sub Plan Act awareness programme. He said that public should be educated about respecting women, against the evil of atrocities on women, superstitions etc. and 3 to 4 days special programme would be launched at school-level also in this regard with participation by parents, 2 to 3 times a year, by conducting essay writing, quiz, elocution, rallies, cultural programmes etc.

Officials explained that the Department of Social Welfare is implementing the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989 and Protection of Civil Rights (PCR) Act, 1955 to curb atrocities on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. A special cell in Police Department, Special Sessions Court and Mobile Courts constituted for this purpose.
