Women feared killed by in-laws appears in court

Mathura, August 07: A married woman who was feared to have been killed by her in-laws for dowry a few months back appeared before a court today with her three children.

Vandana Chaturvedi said in the court of ACJM Chandra Bhan that she had fled to New Delhi with her three children fearing harm from her in-laws but her father though she was killed and filed a complaint with the police.

“I had to leave my in-laws house since my mother-in-law was torturing me to bring additional dowry. My father bluntly told me then that since he cannot pay additional dowry, I had to adjust with my in-laws,” Chaturvedi said in the court.

When she disappeared, her father lodged an complaint alleging that she was kidnapped and murdered by her husband and his parents.

Police had subsequently arrested her husband and his family members.
