Suri (WB), August 16: A six-member team of West Bengal State Women’s Commission today met the tribal girl who was paraded naked and pictures of the incident circulated through MMS by some villagers in Birbhum district.
The six-member team led by Women’s Commission chairperson Malini Bhattacharya met the girl at the Government Home at Rampurhat, where she is presently putting up after the incident became public.
The team also visited the girl’s native village Bartala and talked to her family members and the villagers.
Later, the team held a meeting with the Birbhum District Magistrate Saumitra Mohan and other senior officers.
Bhattacharya said, “We asked the district officials why the incident was not reported immediately after it happened.”
The tribal was paraded naked in the month of April but the matter came to light after pictures of the incident were circulated through MMS some two weeks ago.
