Hyderabad, March 22: Claiming to be the “second wife” of Ramagundam MLA Somarapu Satyanarayana, a woman created a ruckus in front of the MLA’s house at Nampally Friday night.
Saturday, she approached the AP State Human Rights Commission.
The woman, Vijaya Lakshmi, showed up at the legislator’s residence on Friday and staged a dharna for few minutes. Later, she and three others barged into the house and gheraoed Satyanarayana.
Police said Vijaya Lakshmi clung on to the Independent MLA and demanded “justice”.
Satyanarayana, who was to attend a party, was held up for nearly 30 minutes.
Personal aides informed the Saifabad police who arrived at the scene, escorted the MLA out and dispersed the women. “They actually tresspassed into my house and held me tightly,” Satyanarayana told Express.
But it did not stop at that. Vijaya Lakshmi today knocked on the doors of the State Human Rights Commission seeking its intervention and submitted a petition to chairperson B Subhashan Reddy. Based on this, the panel directed Saifabad Assistant Commissioner of Police to submit a report on the matter.
It is learnt that the SHRC chairperson questioned the validity of the “second” marriage as Satyanarayana continued to live with his first wife. Vijaya Lakshmi then showed a few photographs of her along with the MLA. However, she could not furnish any photograph of the “wedding”.
As for the legislator, he said: “I know her from a long time as she used to come to my house frequently. She used to insist on getting herself photographed with me. But I never married her.” Meanwhile, SHRC chief Subhashan Reddy has said that the Saifabad ACP was expected to submit his report by March 29.
