Women attack microfin offices in Karimnagar

Karimnagar, October 11: Tension prevailed for sometime at Jyotinagar here today when over a hundred CPI women functionaries led by district unit secretary M Venkataswamy attacked two microfinance company offices alleging that they had been harassing women’s group members for repayment of loans. They demanded that such companies in the town should be wound up immediately and the the loans scrapped.

The activists, raising slogans against the activities of microfinance companies, barged into an office and destroyed the furniture and records there. They also removed the signboards of the SKS Finance and Share Micro Finance Ltd and threw them away after trampling on them. By the time the two town police learned about the attack and rushed to the spot, the assailants had completed their task.
