New Delhi/Kolkata/Jaipur : Women activists on Wednesday condemned the allegedly kidnapping of a girl from outside her college in Gurgaon, Haryana, and called for scrutinisation of the city police.
The incident took place today in a broad daylight.
“Now, the gate of her college has also become insecure. Where should girls go? Police action needs to be absolutely scrutinised as to where did the boys disappear? Where has this car disappeared?” asked Centre for Social research Director Dr. Ranjana Kumari.
She insisted that these incidents need to be taken very seriously.
Jagmati Sangwan, General Secretary, All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), said, “This is a very concerning incident where a young girl has been kidnapped in broad daylight. The culprits have not been arrested till now. We demand that the Haryana Government should show some concern. Our organisation will stand up with the family and victim and we will provide all types of help to them.”
Kavita Srivastava of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) told ANI in Jaipur, “The security of women is a non-issue for the Haryana Government or the Central government. We think that the government has failed to fulfill their promises. The Haryana Government should have made a policy in this regard. These boys should be arrested immediately.”
Soon after the kidnapping, dramatic CCTV footage emerged of the car allegedly used by the abductors speeding away from Dronacharya Government College as a couple of youngsters chased the vehicle. (ANI)
