Women achievers in aeronautical field encourage girls

New Delhi, March 08: To encourage and motivate girl students on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Aeronautical Society of India and Indian Woman Pilot Association organised various competitions, giving away cash prizes that can be used for their higher education.

Around 50 girl students from various institutions and NGOs participated in programmes like painting competitions.

“We have fixed-deposited the cash prize which would be given to the students when they join higher education,” said Captain Nivedita Bhasin, the first woman pilot to get captain rating on Boeing-737 aircraft, from IWPA.

The students were shown films on women achievers from India in the field of science, sports, aviation, business, politics, and social work.

They also got pep talks from India’s first glider pilot Raj Mittu Nair, who has three world records to her credit in the adventure sport.
