UP: Woman tied to tree and beaten up on orders of Village Panchayath

Muzaffarnagar: Village Panchayath in UP’s Muzaffarnagar ordered to tie a woman to a tree and beat her up for being involved in ‘Illicit relationship’ with her brother-in-law’s son.

The matter came to light on Wednesday after a video of the ordered punishment went viral on social media, PTI reported.

According to Circle Officer Hariram Yadav the incident happened in Toda village under Ratenpuri police station.

The Police has filed case against eight people and arrested three accused, after the victim’s husband lodged a complaint.

The victim woman who was allegedly beaten up by the villagers was sent for medical examination.

The Police has also called the panchayat over the allegations leveled by the in-laws of his brother’s son, whose wife had left him and living with her parents due to the alleged relationship.
